Tom Hiddleston

Tom Hiddleston has revealed that the trickest part for him as Loki in The Avengers was 'magnifying his menace'.

The actor is set to reprise the role of Loki this summer as he joins the all star cast of The Avengers.

We were introduced to the character for the first time last summer in Thor and he is back for revenge.

But the actor admits that it was the dark emotions of the character that were sometimes difficult to channel.

Writing on Twitter as part of a Q&A session Hiddleston said: "The biggest challenge was magnifying his menace without losing touch of his emotional truth. Keeping his chaos honest.

"Sometimes you wake up feeling warm and sunny, but the scene requires hatefulness and spite.

"You have to reach deeper. And stay aware of the fact that the emotions are true, but they're not mine."

Josh Whedon is on directing duties for The Avengers while Hiddleston is joined by Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo and Samuel L Jackson.

We have already seen HIddleston on the big screen this year in War Horse and he is set to appear in a Henry V TV movie.

The Avengers is released 27th April.
