Tom Hardy is set to play Elton John in a new biopic about the singer/songwriter.
Rocketman will tell the story of John's life as well as hit rise to fame and will be produced by Elton through his Rocket Films production company, as well as Focus Features.
The movie will see Hardy team up with director Michael Gracey for the first time, while Lee Hall has penned the screenplay.
Rocket Films CEO Steve Hamilton Shaw said in a statement: "Tom is a stellar talent who will add extraordinary depth and nuance in bringing Elton's story to life.
"We are excited to have such a gifted actor on board, and equally excited to be in the hands of Peter Schlessel and the entire Focus Features team."
This is not the first time that Hardy has taken on a real life role, after he grabbed everyone's attention back in 2009 when he played Charles Bronson in Bronson.
Since then Hardy has become one of the most sought after actors with roles in The Dark Knight Rises and Tinker Tailor Solider Spy in recent years.
Locke will be the next big screen outing for the actor, which he has also completed work on Animal Rescue, Mad Max: Fury Road and Child 44.
Filming will begin in late 2014.
