Ben Wheatley has confirmed that Tom Hiddleston will star in his next movie.

Hiddleston is set to lead the cast in High Rise, a big screen adaptation of the novel of the same name by J G Ballard.

The story follows a community that lives in a block of flats, cut off from the rest of society.

Taking to Twitter, Wheatley said: "Here we go. Cant quite believe this is happening," Wheatley said.

"Tom Hiddleston! Jeremy Thomas! Script by Amy Jump! JG BALLARD! Another ace Jay Shaw poster."

It has been a busy couple of years for Wheatley with Kill List, Sightseers and A Field In England putting the director on the map.

Wheatley has also recently returned to TV to director a couple of episode of the latest series of Doctor Who.

As for Hiddleston, he is back on the big screen later this month with Only Lovers Left Alive, with Muppets Most Wanted to follow.

He is also set to star in Guillermo Del Toro's Crimson Peak, a movie that is still in pre-production.

Filming on High Rise is set to get underway in June.
