Zack Snyder says he's 'excited' about the Batman that they have created for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Snyder is set to return to the director's chair for the sequel to Man of Steel, which will see batman return for the first time since The Dark Knight Rises. However, this time around we are going to see an older Bruce Wayne.

Snyder cast Ben Affleck in the role and says that he was always looking to have an 'older Batman'

Speaking to CBR about the character, the director said: "I definitely wanted an older Batman. I wanted a war-weary Batman.

"That's why, in a lot of ways, Ben was really perfect for me - we kind of aged him a little bit. It worked really great. I'm really excited about the Batman we created."

Dawn of Justice marks the first time that Snyder has teamed up with Affleck, while Henry Cavill is back as Superman.

Snyder reveals that he also has strong ideas for the way Batman was going to look - in terms of costume - in the film and wanted more of a 'fabric-based Batman.'

He continued: "I had a really strong idea about what I wanted to do - I really wanted to do sort of a fabric-based Batman; not what's become the more normal, armoured Batman. That's how we evolved it."

Dawn of Justice is the first time that we have seen Snyder in the director's chair since the success of Man of Steel. Dawn of Justice is already one of the most anticipated films of 2016 and is set to be one of the biggest comic book films.

While there was some criticism over the casting of Affleck in the role of Bruce Wayne, I really cannot wait to see him in action and how the director has developed this character further.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is released 25th March.
