Snyder is back in the director's chair for the highly anticipated Dawn of Justice, which hits the big screen at the end of the movie.

The director said the destruction of Metropolis was an important factor at the end of the Man of Steel and showed the collateral damage of bringing down the bad guy.

Speaking to Wired Magazine, the filmmaker said: "To me, the killing of Zod is not as big a deal as the destruction of Metropolis. It's important that these movies have consequences, that there is collateral damage.

"In Batman v Superman I wanted to show how Bruce Wayne feels when reduced to a sideline sitter. Batman is frightened by his impotence in the face of that."

Dawn of Justice is the first time that we have seen Snyder in the director's chair since the success of Man of Steel back in 2013.

Henry Cavill is set to return as Superman while we will be introduced to Ben Affleck as Batman for the first time. I can't wait to see these two iconic heroes go head to head.

There has been some controversy over the casting of Affleck as Batman and it will be interesting to see an older Bruce Wayne explored in the upcoming film.

Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Jason Momoa, and Jeremy Irons are the other new faces as they take on the roles of Wonder Woman, Lex Luthor, Aquaman, and Alfred.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is just one of the movie comic book movies that will hit the big screen this year, but it looks set to be one of the biggest and most successful.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is released 25th Match.
