Zoe Saldana has revealed that she has almost quit acting after working on Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.
Saldana landed the role of pirate Anamaria in the first film in the popular franchise, but she reveals that it was a totally enjoyable experience.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the actress said: "Those weren't the right people for me. I'm not talking about the cast. The cast was great. I'm talking about the political stuff that went on behind closed doors.
"It was a lot of above-the-line versus below-the-line, extras versus actors, producers versus PAs. It was very elitist. I almost quit the business.
"I was 23-years-old, and I was like.... I am never putting myself in this situation again. People disrespecting me because they look at my number on a call sheet and they think I'm not important."
However, her experience on Pirates of the Caribbean has not put her off blockbusters after starring in and enjoying success with Avatar, Star Trek, and Star Trek Into Darkness.
Saldana will return to the blockbuster next week, as she takes on the role of Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy: her first Marvel film.
She will star alongside Chris Pratt, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, and Dave Bautista, in what will be one of the biggest movies of the summer.
Saldana has also completed work on Nina and Book of Life, and is set to reprise the role of Neytiri for Avatar 2.
Guardians of the Galaxy is released 31st July.
