It has been a while since we have seen Johnny Depp on the big screen but he is back this week with The Lone Ranger.

The Oscar nominated actor will take on the role of native American warrior Tonto alongside Armie Hammer, who takes on the title role.

A star studied cast has been assembled for the film and sees Depp and Hammer joined by Helena Bonham Carter, Ruth Wilson, William Fichtner and Tom Wilkinson.

This film takes us to The Lone Ranger boot camp as they cast learn to be cowboys; so that means horse riding, learning to us a lasso and gun training:

The Lone Ranger sees Gore Verbinski back in the director's chair for his first film since Rango - this is also his first live action movie since Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End.

This will be the fifth time that Verbinski has joined forces with Depp; they have worked on three POTC movies together as well as the Oscar winning Rango.

The Lone Ranger is a thrilling adventure infused with action and humour, in which the famed masked hero is brought to life through new eyes.

Native American warrior Tonto (Johnny Depp) recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Armie Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice - taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption.

The Lone Ranger looks set to be an action packed Western that will be a whole lot of fun.

Johnny Depp has always been known to take on slightly off the wall characters and Tonto will see him carry on that fine tradition.

The Lone Ranger is released 9th August.
