A United Kingdom is the movie that is set to open the BFI London Film Festival this autumn and the first trailer for the film has been unveiled.

A United Kingdom

A United Kingdom

A United Kingdom tells the powerful true story of Seretse Khama, King of Bechuanaland and sees Amma Asante back in the director's chair.

This is the third feature film of Asante's career so far and comes after the success of A Way of Life and Belle. It was Belle that really put her on the map in 2013 and I am excited to see her back.

A United Kingdom is set to be one of the most talked about films on the festival circuit this autumn and we have the first trailer for you to take a look at:

While A United Kingdom is a biopic movie, it is set to be a sweeping romance and a touching human drama - it is one of the London Film Festival movies that I am looking forward to seeing the most.

The movie is based on the book Colour Bar by Susan Williams and Guy Hibbert, who wrote the script for the recent Eye in the Sky, is one board to pen the screenplay.

David Oyelowo and Rosamund Pike take on the central roles of Seretse Khama and Ruth Williams and are joined on the cast list by Tom Felton, Laura Carmichael, Jack Davenport, and Charlotte Hope.

A United Kingdom tells the true story of Seretse Khama, King of Bechuanaland (modern Botswana), and Ruth Williams, the London office worker he married in 1948 in the face of fierce opposition from their families and the British and South African governments.

The movie will open the BFI London Film Festival on 5th October, which will be the film's European premiere.

A United Kingdom is released 25th November.
