Following a sold-out European tour, including London shows at Madame Jojo’s and Shepherds Bush Empire, earlier this year, Joshua Radin has announced a further two UK headline shows for October 2009.

Radin will play London’s Koko on Monday, 5 October and Manchester’s Club Academy on Thursday, 8 October.  Radin’s fast-rising album Simple Times was released in the UK through 14th Floor Records, home to Ray LaMontagne and Damien Rice, on August 10.

From Cleveland via New York and LA, Joshua Radin is fast becoming a unique word-of-mouth global success story. Radin started out in New York trying to carve out a career as a painter and screenwriter, before performing at open mic nights – earning his reputation at the Bitter End and the Knitting Factory.

When friend and actor/filmmaker Zach Braff heard a demo of Radin’s song ‘Winter’, he placed it on the hit show Scrubs. Four further songs were used on the show and Braff directed and appeared in Radin’s first  video promo. Radin later returned the favour and appeared in Braff’s cult motion picture Garden State starring Natalie Portman.

Since then, Radin’s anthems for the heartbroken and dispossessed have appeared on the soundtracks to numerous TV series and films, enhancing the drama and underscoring the action on shows including; Bones, Grey’s Anatomy, House, Brothers And Sisters and Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip.

In the US, Radin became the first signing to Mom & Pop, an independent label run by Q Prime Management (Muse, Metalica, The Mars Volta). Produced by Rob Schnapf (Beck, Elliott Smith), Simple Times has sold over 250,000 copies out of the label’s offices and sold a further five thousand copies in the UK before Radin even had a UK deal.

To date, every track on the album has been licensed for a TV drama or film soundtrack. Radin’s breathy whisper of a voice and wistful melodies can be found throughout, from the optimism of ‘Brand New Day’, through to the beautiful and poignant ‘I’d Rather Be With You’.
