Dolly Parton thinks she can "handle" Glastonbury Festival and the pressures that come with it.

The 68-year-old star is set to make history by making her Worthy Farm debut this June and isn't nervous about British fans' response to her brand of country music at a festival renowned for its rock acts, with big bands like Arcade Fire and Kasabian headlining.

She told Attitude magazine: "I've never done a show that big. I know I'm a different type of artist than they're used to. I suppose they'll either like me or they won't, but I'm going to give it all I've got. I think I can handle it."

Dolly has been going strong since her first single was released in 1965 and credits her husband of 48 years, Carl Dean, for keeping her grounded.

The '9 to 5' hitmaker believes the key to keeping her marriage strong is learning to love each other's differences.

She mused: "I think you've got to see each other. To pay attention to what your partner is thinking and feeling and not try to force your will on them. You've got to understand that they're different from you, and learn to love and respect their differences.

"Sometimes you've got to bit your tongue. And then, when everything's good, bite theirs. Ha ha ha!"
