Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber left thousands of his fans devastated last night after turning up two hours late to his own concert and we not only think that it smacks of an arrogance that’s becoming more and more apparent in the world of Justin Bieber.

Not only did he flounce up late, but he cut his set by half an hour. So as well as the fans he claims to adore being left waiting with no explanation or entertainment for two hours, they didn’t even get the full dose of Justin that they’d paid a not inconsiderable price to see.

We’re not the biggest fans of Bieber here in FemaleFirst towers to start with, but this latest brattish behaviour has left a really sour taste in our mouths. While it’s not inconceivable to be late to your own concert, two hours just is plain off not acceptable for anyone, especially someone whose audience is primarily made up of children who would have had to be taken home because of school in the morning.

His lack of apology on stage is also just unacceptable. Lady Gaga was most apologetic when she was thirty minutes late to her concert and forced Twickenham to push back it’s curfew in order to fit a full set in. Bieber may have played until twelve, but still didn’t do his entire set list. For the minimum of £55, you expect the full Justin experience.

I’ve been to my fair share of gigs where the performers turn out late, although none of them have ever gone over the forty minute mark and those concerts were being attended by others like me who don’t have to worry about school the next day. Even then, they were usually quick to offer some sort of condolence.

If he was stuck in traffic or got held up somewhere, then come out and say you’re not already there performing. I’m sure they could have played a phone call over the speakers in the arena. It didn’t seem to hamper the support acts, who both performed on time. Do Carly Rae Jepsen and Cody Simpson travel via different means or stay in a different hotel to Bieber?

He’s not here because of his musical prowess; he’s here because of the maniacal devotion of his fans. They’re they people who’ve propelled him to superstardom, and that’s something that he should never forget. It’s only a matter of time before they get drawn to the next teen pop sensation and so far Justin’s giving them little reason why they should stay with him.

Does Justin think he’s outgrown them? Does he think that he can justify these rock and roll antics? How are those thousands of kids feeling this morning after they had to pay through the nose to see their idol only to have to leave because he couldn’t be bothered to show up on time?

This stunt just shows a complete and utter lack of respect of his devoted fans, many of which have waited years and years for him to finally arrive on UK soil and praise the ground he walks on. It just smacks of a massively pig-headed and arrogant move to then descend from the ceiling with a couple of angel wings attached to your back. It’s just a shame that Saint Justin can’t read a clock after also being an hour late to the stage in Nottingham on the first date of this tour.

Tales of kids sobbing on the tube after parents had to tear them away after a single song and even audience members falling asleep as the wait went on until the dead of night are rampant on social media today, none of which have as yet been addressed by Bieber or his people.

While I hope that the fans revolt against their prophet and dismiss the virtuous image they have of him in their heads, they won’t. They’ll make excuses and forgive him straight away, which might just be the most depressing thing of this entire debacle.

I just hope that the parents who had to fork over incredible amounts of cash to take their children along will be refunded, although that’s still very much in the air at the moment. Also, if this goes to expose the other side of Bieber to the parents of these obsessed teens, then maybe that might be the one good thing to come out of this.
