Roger Taylor

Roger Taylor

Roger Taylor played most of the instruments on his new solo album, 'Fun on Earth', himself including guitars and piano.

The legendary Queen hitmaker has made his first solo album in 15 years, and although he is best known as a drummer and singer, he played almost all the instruments on 'Fun on Earth'.

He told femalefirst.co.uk "I did keyboards, a lot of guitar on the album, I collect old guitars, beautiful old electric guitars, I love them, they're items of beauty and I did some of the piano and obviously the vocals and some bass, but I don't play bass on all the tracks.

"I also got [guitarist] Jeff Beck in there [on the track 'Say It's Not True'], I just adore his playing, he is just the most incredible guitar player."

Roger rose to fame in Queen alongside Freddie Mercury, Brian May and John Deacon, and he acknowledges it is hard for him to create a musical identity outside of the group.

He added: "It's very hard doing solo stuff when you've been in an famous band, people like to pigeonhole you and think that's it, with you all neatly wrapped up in a parcel, but it's just what I do, and what I love to do and it's great to be in the position to be able to express yourself."

'Fun on Earth' is released on November 11. Roger is also bringing the official Queen tribute, The Queen Extravaganza, to the UK for the first time this October. Members were auditioned via Youtube and have already enjoyed great success in North America.
