of Montreal: - An Eluardian Instance

Athens Georgia’s psych pop sextet of Montreal are set to release new single ‘An Eluardian Instance’ on the 2nd February through Polyvinyl Records.

After of Montreal’s hugely successful shows recently in North America and Europe – the highlight of which witnessed Kevin Barnes riding across the stage on a white horse at New York’s Roseland Ballroom - the six piece are set to return to UK shores as of this week.

The tour kicks off at London’s Heaven tomorrow (Tues 20th Jan) with a much coveted support slot for Franz Ferdinand, making of Montreal the first band to open this year’s series of NME Awards shows.

‘An Eluardian Instance’ is an uplifting, wistful pop song complete with jovial handclaps and elevating trombones. The single also features two brilliant reinterpretations by Grammy-nominated producer Jon Brion (whose worked with Kanye West, Spoon and Elliott Smith, and scored the films Magnolia and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind). The single also features 3 reworkings of live favourite ‘Gallery Piece’.

The new single is taken from their ninth album, ‘Skeletal Lamping’, throughout which Kevin Barnes shines a light on the deepest, darkest corners of his psyche. The ever changing feel to ‘Skeletal Lamping’ gives it the feel of a multi-dimensional mixtape but amongst the bizarreness, it is packed with extremely catchy songs and slinky grooves that make it such rewarding listening.

With no theatrics spared, the following live shows are not to be missed.
