If you haven’t melted by his husky voice and inventive guitar playing then you will by his stunning Latin looks, meet Jack Savoretti, the singer set to win every female heart. Recently performing as ‘Artist of the Year’ throughout Caffe Nero’s in Britain, Jack, 23, is getting noticed by more than just lovers of coffee. Critically acclaimed to have talent worthy of singers Damien Rice and Neil Diamond this Bohemians potential will leave you watching this space. We find out more about the boy wonder… You have been compared alongside Damien Rice and James Blunt, how do you feel about that?I’m flattered to say the least, all of its very good comparison. I think all of those are pretty good with words but yeah it’s an honour but I don’t think I’m anywhere close to being as accomplished with their songs. How do you think your sound differs from theirs? I think that I don’t really identify with one particular culture growing up with the kind of background I have. It might not be necessarily typically English or American type music or European. You used to be signed up by Anne Barrett, Natalie Imbruglia’s manager. Have you had the chance to meet Natalie Imbruglia? I have met her yes she’s nice. She’s fantastic. Would you ever duet with her if you had a chance?

Yeah nothing is discounted!

You moved around Europe as a child. What has been your favourite place to visit?

Italy, which is the place I come from, it’s just very easy when it comes to lifestyle and the quality of life is pretty hard to beat. The atmosphere, the food what people prioritise is much nicer. I like the fact that people put family and food over other stuff.

Is that your priority family and food?

Yeah, definitely. Absolutely!

Have you always been able to settle in well at a new place?

It’s been OK I suppose sometimes its hard when you’re young and you change schools a few times but I wouldn’t even call it hard it’s just something you got to go through and it just moulds you.

You first picked up a guitar at the age of 16, how easy did you find it to write songs?

It kind of happened naturally I was really bad at learning other people’s songs so I would at most be able to figure out three or four chords and then I would then be able to learn the song. So I would use those and make up my own.

So who were your musical influences? Crosby, Stills and Nash.

Your songs have been described as meaningful and heartfelt, do these songs draw upon your own experiences or are they fictional?

I guess both. I like to kind of leave the song to whoever is listening to it and let them make up their mind if they want to see it as somebody else’s story or their own I don’t think it really matters if it’s happened to me or not happened to me, they are purely stories.

Your main hobby before you became a singer was poetry, what would you write about?

Pretty much what I write about in my songs. Either something I’ve seen or something I’ve been through, just day to day life but maybe not necessarily day to day life from the eyes that I’m seeing but life from the eyes of people who I have no idea what they’re seeing and try and find an understanding.

You have already been on the Caffe Nero’s ‘Artist of the Month’ tour- how did that go for you?

It was great. It was a great way to see the country, it was a great opportunity. It was nice because it was during the daytime so we got to see a lot of beautiful towns just got to get around.

Did you get any free coffee?

A lot of free coffee!

From your pictures you seem to be very good looking, have you always had luck with the ladies?

No, I don’t think luck has anything to do with that situation!

Have you had any heart breaks?

Yeah, I think everybody has heartbreaks once you know. I think I was six years old when I had my first.

Do you have any tips for getting over heartbreak?

Write a song. That definitely helps.

And do you have a girlfriend now?

I do yeah.

How long have you been together for?

For three years.

You’re still very young at 23, what do you hope the future holds for you?

I don’t know, just to be able to write music and get a dog!

If there was anyone you’d like to perform with, who would it be?

I would love to do something with Gipsy King.

Jack Savoretti’s new album ‘Between the Minds’ is out now.
