Scouting For Girls

Scouting For Girls

Scouting for Girls have to be my favourite indie pop band in the charts - not just because I once saw them on the telly and they looked pretty good live. And not because they are pretty fit either. No, I like them because they're nice fellows and they make good music, so here they are answering The 15 Questions We Ask Everyone.

1. Hello there little monster, what are you up to?

Hi! We’re doing an interview for Female First J.  We’re sitting in a board room speaking into a tiny tape recorder.

2. So, tell me a bit about what you’re here to promote?

We are promoting our new single Famous from our gold selling (woohoo!) record Everybody Wants to Be On TV.

3. And if we didn’t have any clue as to who you were, what three words sum you up?
Fun, uplifting and positive.

4. And as Jacko had the Moonwalk and Elvis had the snake hips, what do you have that makes you unique?

Bad knees! Hahahahaha

5. Now, clearly we need to get to know each other more, so tell me an interesting fact about you that no-one else knows?
This Ain’t A Love Song was actually first written in a cave in Dartmoor ten years ago. Oh and Pete was a child star and appeared on Countdown when he was younger.

6. What song do you wish you’d written?

Journey – Don’t Stop Believing

7. If I were contemplating coming to your show or sitting at home and watching TV, how would you convince me to come out?

We would show you our Keep On Walking video which shows you how fun our live shows are… or find a gag and some rope. Hahahahaha

8. And if you were to take me on a
trip to your hometown, what would be the first place we’d go?
Pete – Beckonscott Model Village.
Roy – We would drive past what used to be The Swan which is the pub where we spent probably 10 years of our life and spit on the Café Rouge site that is now there in the heart of the Ruislip (our hometown) community.
Greg – There is also a duck pond and a Motte and Bailey castle, as well as a barn that was in the Magna Carta
Roy – The library is nice
Greg – yeah the library is great.  Ruislip is happening.

9. Who was the last person you called / text and what for?
Greg – Roy to ask if he needed his keyboard
Roy – Pete to tell him I was around the corner

10. If you were a superhero, what would be your superpower?
Greg – X ray vision. Actually, I would settle for good vision
All – hahahahaha
Pete – Invisible. I can’t disclose why
Roy – I’d like to fly.  It’s not so much about the cost, but all the guffing around at the airport; getting the taxi there, sorting out your bags…
Pete – Teleporting would be good, like in that film Jumper. The main character decides he wants to go on holiday and then he’s there. But with invisibility you could just get on the plane for free because no one could see you
Roy – I would just like to fly really

11. If you had to date a member of the same sex (or opposite sex if the case may be) who would it be? Mine would ALWAYS be Angelina Jolie.
Pete – Enrique Iglesias
Roy – You do fancy him.
Pete – I am very heterosexual, but he was a good looking bloke
Greg – We met him for a good three hours and he was very charming. I would pick Dave Grohl
Roy – Chris Evans.  He would be my number 1 dinner party guest.  Him and Dermot O’Leary
Greg – Actually I’ll change to Dermot O’Leary.  Get rid of Dave Grohl he’s too hairy, I want my man well kept haha!

12. What was the last thing you bought?
Roy – a barbecue.  It’s in the back of my car.
Pete – gas or coal?
Roy – coal.  I’m having a barbecue this weekend
Greg – I bought a deposit for a new car
Pete – I don’t have to buy anything, not with this face.
Roy – no Pete gets everything for free.  It certainly wasn’t a round, I’ll tell you that much!
Pete – actually it was my Oyster Card

13. Have you ever been arrested?
Greg - Just for crimes against fashion!

14. Speaking of prison - if you were to send someone to prison for crimes against music, who would it be?
The Crazy Frog

15. What were you doing last night at 11?
Roy – I was in bed
Pete – I think I was in bed too
Greg – I was drinking beer and watching telly.

Scouting for Girls new single ‘Famous’ is out on 18 July. Their album ‘Everybody Wants to Be On TV’ is out now.
