How have you found the response to your solo material so far?

It’s been great. I have the best fans who have been so supportive. Had some of the girls reach out and say they are proud of me. It’s been nice!

You're performing on the Ant and Dec Saturday Night Takeaway Tour! What should those attending expect?

The show is so much fun! They have taken all the best bits of the show and put into the live show. The audience is going to have a blast!

Are you excited to go on the road with the guys?

I am so excited to go out with the boys. They are such great guys and I am so grateful they have asked me to be a part of it all.

What is it about Saturday Night Takeaway that you think makes it so popular with UK audiences?

It’s just such fun! The energy around it all is so positive and as an audience member you feel like you are involved. And of course Ant and Dec are such great presenters!

Your debut solo album is called ‘Butterfly Effect’ - how did you come to choosing that name?

Coming up with an album title is so personal, and my A&R were going back and forth on what we thought was a good fit. I went home to brainstorm when I came across an old photo that was titled Butterfly Effect. I have a massive connection to butterflies and when I saw it I had an emotional reaction. I went to tell my A&R and he had written down the same title! No lie. So that was it. Synchronicity at its best.

And what should we expect from your next single 'Woman Up'?

'Woman Up' is a fun female empowerment song. I watched my mom suffer from a divorce where she depended on my father. Seeing that drove me to [be] independent and strong on my own. I think it’s empowering for woman to be in a relationship or single and have their own independence.

What's next for you?

Next is tour life, then off to hike Machu Pichu for a great charity called Coppafeel. Excited about that!

Ashley Roberts is currently on tour with Ant and Dec. She will release her new single 'Woman Up' on August 25, whilst her debut solo album 'Butterfly Effect' drops on September 1.
