US rockers Blink 182 have postponed all major tours in the UK and Ireland this summer to concentrate on their forthcoming studio album due to be released later this year

The reunited band, who have not released an album since their greatest hits LP came out in 2005, were set to perform various shows across Great Britain however in a statement released on the band's official website on Monday, the group writes, "It is with heavy hearts that we have to announce our planned 2011 European summer tour has been rescheduled.

"When we booked the tour last year, we were confident that we would have the new album out before the summer. Turns out we were mistaken as the album is taking longer than we thought and won't be out till later this year."

The California made band first joined in 1992 and have since released five studio albums and one live album. To the dismay of their fans they called a hiatus in 2005 but rejoined three years later.

This is their second tour since the band regrouped, and three years since the band went hiatus with guitarist and singer Tom DeLonge being the first to quit.

After Blink drummer Travis Barker was one of two people to survive in a plane crash in 2008, the band made a decision to release music once again after a reconciliation and the band seem stronger than ever.

Delonge stated that, ""if that accident hadn't happened, we wouldn't be a band. Plain and simple. That was fate."

The band told the world of their reunion at the 51st Grammy awards 2009 when all three band members played on stage for the first time since 2004, a video then appeared with the message 'Blink is Back.'

However the band hope that their UK fans will understand why they had to postpone their anticipated summer tour.

"We hoped we would have some new songs to play rather than do another 'greatest hits tour' which you all saw last summer. The three of us are working very hard to do what we set out to do when we re-formed, get a new Blink-182 album recorded."

The trio also worked on a documentary 'Blinkumentary' which focused on their reunion, studio time and first tour.

The group have rescheduled the tour dates for next summer.
