Bass guitarist Sarah Firebrand is about to undertake her first multi-date UK tour as a member of glam metal icons Tigertailz.

Sarah, 27, joined the long-lived Welsh rock heroes last year, as a replacement for original bassist Justin Smith (aka Pepsi Tate) who sadly lost his battle with cancer in September 2007. Sarah is not only the first female to ever play in Tigertailz, but she’s also nearly 20 years younger than original members, vocalist Kim Hooker and guitarist Jay Pepper!

Returning to the live circuit with a new live album, Tigertailz have a rejuvenated line-up, and a keen eye on the future. It marks the first page in a new era for the much loved quartet.

First coming to fame in 1990 on the back of big-selling second album ‘Bezerk’ and a string of hit singles, magazine covers and videos, the band won no shortage of acclaim for their bombastic but fun-filled rock anthems. “I was only a little girl when ‘Bezerk came out, so I guess I’ve joined the fan base a little late on, but it feels amazing and slightly surreal to be a part of all this,” says Sarah. “I’m the first female to play with the band, but judging by the amount of hairspray and eyeliner I witness at photoshoots, I don't think I'm going to be too blown away by testosterone just yet!”

Now, with the ‘Bezerk Live – Burnin’ Fuel’ album available through Cargo and from their website, and new material being written as we speak, Tigertailz are preparing to go back on the road.

“Without doubt this line-up is a force to be reckoned with,” says guitarist Jay Pepper. “Obviously Tigertailz will never be the same without Pepsi, but what we have in Sarah and Robin (Guy – drums) is a powerhouse rhythm section that makes us as good as any band around, and people are taking notice. I think we’ve been misunderstood for most of our career but we hope this tour will help to change that perception. We’re writing too – who knows what might happen this year.”
