Heather Mills Sells Home To Pay Off Legal Debt....

Sir Paul McCartney's estranged wife Heather Mills has been forced to sell her home - after legal fees left her millions of dollars in debt. The 40-year-old will move back to her former residence in Brighton England, after selling her Robertsbridge, East Sussex country estate in order to collect the cash deposit of $1 million (#500,000) she put down on the property. That sum came from the sale of a converted barn given to her by the ex-Beatle after their split in May 2006.But the former model has not profited from the sale of her nine-bedroom mansion, as it sold for $6.5 million (#3.25 million) - the same price she paid six months ago for the home, which also boasts two staff cottages, horse stables and a gym.In an appearance on U.K. TV show Gmtv last year (31Oct07), the glamour model-turned-activist admitted her divorce battle with McCartney has left her $3 million (£1.5 million) in debt.Meanwhile Sir Paul McCartney has attempted to mend the rift between himself and estranged wife Heather Mills - by splashing out on thousands of dollars' worth of gifts for her 40th birthday.Mills, who celebrated her birthday on Saturday (12Jan08), was left shocked after the ex-Beatles' driver delivered presents including a $4,000 (£2,000) Cartier watch, a $10,000 (#5,000) gift card from luxury British department store Harvey Nichols, and goody bags with products from La Prairie skincare, Kanebo Cosmetics and Charles Worthington haircare. The presents were accompanied by drawings made by the couple's four-year-old daughter Beatrice, including a framed picture of the three of them as a family.

A hand-written card attached to the gifts read, "Have an amazing day, despite what's happened. Hope we can be friends. P x".

Mills and McCartney - who split in May 2006 - are currently locked in a bitter divorce battle and are due to appear in court to continue negotiations in February (08).
