"Clubbing baby seals is sick. Don't let the greed of a few tarnish the image of the whole country."

Iggy Pop used his performance at the Isle of Wight Festival to promote his campaign against seal clubbing in Canada.

The punk rocker is a keen supporter of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals' drive to end the slaughter of seals, and has posed for a print advertisement backing the campaign.

Before taking to the stage with his band,The Stooges, on Saturday the ad was projected onto electronic screens at the side of the stage.

Pop is seen posing in front of an image of a seal about to be clubbed to death, alongside the message: "Clubbing baby seals is sick. Don't let the greed of a few tarnish the image of the whole country."

Other stars seen to be backing the campaign include Sir Paul McCartney, Pamela Anderson and Natalie Imbruglia.
