BOYZONE star KEITH DUFFY is nursing painful knees after cycling almost 200 miles (320 kilometres) through the European Alps for charity last week (ends 29 May 11).

The singer tackled the endurance race in the mountains to raise money for the Irish Autism Action organisation, of which he is a patron.

Irish Autism Action, in partnership with Hearts & Minds, are having a charity bike ride covering 4 countries over 4 days.

The cycle starts in Switzerland on May 27th proceeds through the Alps, France and Italy and finishes up in the principality of Monte Carlo in Monaco on May 31st.

Duffy successfully completed the cycling challenge, but admitted he suffered for his cause. Speaking during the cycle, he said, "My knees are sore but are holding up so far but my hernia hasn't caused me any bother. But all the pain will be worth it."

Duffy is also competing in an extreme triathlon in Ireland in September (11) to raise money for the charity, which helped him when his daughter Mia, 11, was diagnosed with autism at 16 months old.
