Hip Hop Stop!
Lady Sovereign In Pole Position As T-Mobile Street Gigs Head To Leeds For The First Time.
In true T-Mobile Street Gig fashion, we are bringing you an exclusive one off, never to be repeated experience. In the run up to the release of her new single ‘Those Were The Days’ (released 16th April) and just before Lady Sovereign joins Gwen Stefani on tour in the States, the rapper from Wembley will perform on Thursday 12th April at the Pole Position Go Kart Track, a favourite stop for the Sov when on tour.

Lady Sovereign will be performing tracks from her debut album ‘Public Warning’ (out Now) and entertaining us with her wicked sense of humour and sharp tongue, set amongst the unforgiving and competitive surroundings of the Go Kart Track.

Lady Sovereign say: “I've been to Go Kart tracks so many times but never to play a gig so let’s see what happens at this T-Mobile Street Gig! My fans can expect a show with a band, in a damn unusual setting, rocked out by me!”

Lady Sovereign has spent the best part of last year in the States cementing her reputation as the UK’s most successful hip hop artist, who can MC her heart out, and impressing hip hop impresario Jay-Z along the way. So much so, that he signed her to the infamous Def Jam label, one-time home to Public Enemy, Run DMC and Kanye West. Jay-Z is not the only fan, Missy Elliott can be found on a remix of her first single ‘Love Me or Hate Me’. This will be the first time T-Mobile Street Gigs has come to Leeds and Lady Sovereign will be the first female artist to feature in 2007s T-Mobile Street Gigs. Already in its third year, 2007 kicked off with a fabulous circus themed gig with Mika in a big top at Berkeley Square, London, and followed up with Scotland’s The View playing Edinburgh Castle. This T-Mobile Street Gig looks set to rev the engine even further and Lady Sovereign will make sure that she takes poll position in what promises to be another classic T-Mobile Street Gig, bringing you simply closer to the most unlikely music experience. As with every T-Mobile Street Gig, there will be unexpected surprises all night long! The 15 unique T-Mobile Street Gigs last year included The Strokes performing amongst dinosaurs at the Natural History Museum, The Rakes in a Kebab Shop and a superb 3-day, underground carnival with a host of brilliant bands including Basement Jaxx to top it off! 2007 is set to be an incredible year for T-Mobile Street Gigs, not only will it be bigger and better than ever before but it will be visiting more cities across the country, so watch this space…Tickets are strictly by invite only. To be in with a chance of getting on the guestlist, music fans must register online from 9am on March 29th - 5pm on April 5th at www.t-mobile.co.uk/music If you are not lucky enough to attend then you can tune into the new series of Transmission with T-Mobile on Channel 4 on 4th May to catch highlights of Lady Sovereign’s performance.Don’t forget to check out www.myspace.com/streetgigs and www.myspace.com/yourtmobilemusic for more information on forthcoming T-Mobile Street Gigs.
