Nicole Richie and boyfriend Joel Madden became parents for the second time today after Nicole gave birth to a baby boy.
The child, who is following in many a celebrity sprogs footsteps by being given the bizarre name, Sparrow James Midnight Madden. Poor thing… I mean come on, if you’re going to name your child after a bird, shouldn’t it be something like an Eagle, or Robin? Sparrows don’t really do much do they?
Either way, mother and baby are healthy and well, and the tot weighed in at 7lbs 14oz and big sister Harlow Winter Kate Madden must be thrilled at having a new play friend.
The happy couple released a statement last night saying, "In the middle of night, the very early hours of September 9, 2009 Sparrow James Midnight Madden was born to Nicole Richie and Joel Madden. Nicole, Joel, Harlow and Sparrow are all doing well. Thank you for all of your good wishes.”
