Pete Doherty has hit out at British officials over his upcoming drugs trial, insisting the evidence against him is "very questionable".

The Libertines frontman is facing a hearing in London next month for possessing cocaine after he was arrested following the suspected drugs death of filmmaker Robin Whitehead in January last year.

Doherty spent time with Whitehead in the days before the tragedy, and the apartment in Hackney, east London where she died was being rented by his pal, Peter Wolfe.

The singer and Wolfe - who is charged with supplying cocaine - were formally ordered to stand trial during a court hearing on Wednesday, but Doherty has now blasted officials for pursuing the case.

He claims the evidence against him amounts to images found on a camera belonging to a "close friend" - possibly Whitehead. In a post on his blog on Wednesday, Doherty writes, "(We are) being prosecuted on very questionable evidence, i.e. film footage taken from the camera of another close friend who had died in the arms of one of the other friends."
