Jamie Hamblett

Jamie Hamblett

Union J could be one of the X-Factor’s dark horse this year, but that wouldn’t be the first time singer Jamie Hamblett and horses have been mentioned in the same sentence.

After Jamie and his friends Jaymi and Josh initially falling out of the competition as three piece Triple J, they were allowed back in to the contest and taken through to the judge’s houses after including fourth vocalist George Shelley and becoming Union J. After knocking it out of the park with their performance of Summer sensation Call Me Maybe, they’ve made it through to the live shows.

Jamie’s new found singing fame might cause a bit of trouble for the Newmarket resident, as the former apprentice to Sir Michael Stoute is still an active jockey, with him now riding out for John Gosden.

Despite Gosden’s current ranking as this year’s leading ‘flat’ trainer, with over 144 thousand Twitter followers after barely a week of existing, it seems that Union J might just be the best thoroughbred that Jamie’s got his hands on so far.
