Chic will be releasing their new album later this year in June - their first in more than two decades.

Describing the piece as a "concept album", Nile Rodgers took to Twitter to share the news.

"The new CHIC album is a concept album. The 1st two songs are the 1st (#LutherVandross) and the last songs ever recorded by original band. (sic)"

Warner Bros. CEO and Chairman Cameron Strang added: "Nile has never stopped moving forward, so I am thrilled to welcome him into the WBR family as he begins a dynamic new chapter of his extraordinary career."

Acting as a follow-up to their 1992 LP 'Chic-Ism', their lead single will be released next month on March 20.

Warner Bros. and Land of the Good Groove - the label Rodgers formed with music executive Michael Ostin - have also signed a deal.

In a statement, Nile said: "My relationship with Warner and Michael first started with 'Like A Virgin'.

"The album is double-diamond, just like our friendship is."

Recently returning to the spotlight, Nile's produced songs for artists including Sam Smith, Adam Lambert, Avicii and Duran Duran whilst continuing to tour with his band.

Meanwhile he's also set to receive the President's Merit Award at the forthcoming 8th Annual Grammy Week celebration for Producers and Engineers later today - February 3.

It marks his commitment to excellence and ongoing support for music following on from his Grammy Hall of Fame induction with 'Le Freak' last year.
