David Bowie's son has taken to social media to thank the BRITs and Lorde for the "beautiful" Bowie tribute that took place on the show.

Despite hinting that he wasn't a fan of Lady Gaga's tribute to his late father at the Grammys earlier this year, his views on Lorde's performance was plain to see.

Performing 'Life On Mars', Lorde sang whilst Bowie's former touring band played at the ceremony in honour of the popstar, who was also lauded with the BRIT Icon Award, whcih Annie Lennox presented to Bowie's friend Gary Oldman.

Oldman said: "David faced his illness with grace and customary humour. When he wrote to tell me the bad news that he had cancer, he said, 'The good news is I've got my cheekbones back'. We love you, and we thank you."

Viewers universally seem impressed with the tribute and performance, with many calling it the best tribute to Bowie to-date.
