Demi Lovato is hoping to one day record music with Eminem and is keen for the rapper to feature on her fifth studio record, thinking she'd work well with the star because the pair of them are both in "recovery".

Speaking to ET Online, she explained: "I would love to work with Eminem actually ... I can relate to him with being in recovery and things like that so I think we could make something awesome together."

With previous spells in rehab following her struggles with self-harm, depression and eating disorders, Demi notes she's similar to Eminem because he's also had a hugely public battle with drug addiction during his long career.

She went on to reveal that she's hoping to be "authentic" to herself on the forthcoming LP, and said that her fans should "expect ballads".

"This year, it's super important to me that I embrace who I am as an artist and to become more authentic to who I am.

"I want to release music that is different, that I've never done before ... and that showcases who I am and what I can do vocally. I'm excited to explore with different sounds which is what I'm doing in the studio right now and to see what comes about.

"You can expect ballads, but it's all about balance."
