Jimmy Page has admitted he's started rehearsals for his live comeback so he's in "match fit" condition.

The guitarist no longer wants to wait for former bandmate Robert Plant to agree to a Led Zeppelin reunion and has instead decided to go it alone.

Practising so that his guitar playing is up to speed, he thinks towards the end of the year he'll be ready for live gigs.

Speaking at the 40th anniversary deluxe reissue of Led Zep LP 'Physical Graffiti' at London's Olympic Studios, Jimmy explained: "How it starts off is that you have to play guitar and get match fit first, that's currently what I'm in the process of doing now. I'm sort of slowly in the process of doing that now. It'll be closer to the end of the year rather than say, next month. I'm definitely warming up on the touchline, let's put it that way."

Insisting that the stage show is to be something completely different for him, he isn't going to rely on guest vocals to fill in for Plant.

Asked if Queen's recent gigs with Adam Lambert inspired him, he responded: "Well what I'm going to do is do a project of my own. What I'm doing is something that's going to be quite different really. It won't be anything that, hopefully, you would imagine I'd do."

'Physical Graffiti' the deluxe edition is to be made available from February 23, almost 40 years to the day after the record's original release on February 24, 1975.
