The Wanted have insisted their split is only "a break, not the end."

The Wanted have insisted their split isn't permanent.

The British boy band, who formed in 2009, confirmed on Wednesday (22.01.14) they will be taking a break to "pursue personal endeavours" after completing their upcoming 'Word of Mouth Tour' but member Tom Parker has assured fans that they will reunite in the future.

The 25-year-old singer wrote on Twitter: "Just want to say...It's a break, not the end. You can't get rid of us that easily haha! X"

The 'Glad You Came' hitmaker attempted to alleviate their fans' fears after many questioned whether the group, which also includes Max George, Siva Kaneswaran, Jay McGuiness and Nathan Sykes, would ever get back together, despite their original statement stressing they would continue on as The Wanted in the future.

The statement on their website said: "This tour will be their last for a while as Tom, Max, Jay, Siva and Nathan have collectively decided to take time to pursue personal endeavours following the tour's conclusion. The band wants to stress to their fans that they will continue on as The Wanted and look forward to many successful projects together in the future. They thank their fans for their continued love and support and look forward to seeing them on tour."

Following the announcement, the group also collectively thanked their fans for their support and tweeted: "We just want to say thanks again to you all for your massive love and support, it means so much to us. We love you guys! Thanks for all the tweets x"
