FemaleFirst's recommended Winter Warmers

The winter season is in full swing. As we endure bracing elements and nasty downpours what better way to pick ourselves up than with some fur treats and gorgeous wrapping up warmers to keep off the chill.

Capes and ponchos have been a huge trend setter for a/w 2011. Their casual style have won over millions of ladies looking for ways to keep warm but without losing that all important womanly silhouette. When we see this luxurious poncho (£90) from Celtic Sheepskin, available online, we cannot help but see some simple skinny jeans and gorgeous knee-high boots. Throw an oversized tote bag for casual style.

Fur trimmed boots are a must for keeping the cold off toes this season. We're a massive fan off the overstated fur look. Looking like they've just made their way from the North Pole, these Mongolian boots (£175), also from Celtic Sheepskin, are the perfect slouch footwear for this season.

Expensive? Not when you think of timeless quality - we see plenty of years of wear ahead of these beauties.

If this season's fashion has taught us anything, it's not to be surprised by what fashion has named as it's a/w staples. Among them has been the casual dress, teamed with opaque tights with shoe/boots or brogues.

We've fallen in love with this autumn appropriate print sheer dress (£52.95) from Joe Browns.

It's cute, girly and has plenty of the feminine touch trend that has been a massive hit on the catwalks and the highstreet. Team it with these gorgeous flat boots (£34.95), also from Joe Browns, and you have the perfect mix of girl-meets-boy.

Finish with some chunky knit winter warmers and we recommend an old fashioned romantic walk on a cold winter day.

Tartan is everywhere. Fact. This poncho (£34.95) from Joe Browns, is at the height of winter fashion this year and it's not hard to see why. Even been styled with a handy hood for when the weather turns, this would make a great smart jacket choice as well as getting plenty of everyday use out of it.

We love a good chunky knit cardigan and this one from Gio-Goi is right up our street.

The perfect blend of figure hugging shape and double-breasted buttons this cardigan (£59.99) is as warm as it is stylish. Great for casual lunches and days indoors - if your style is simple but tasteful then this is the knitwear for you.

Who says that knitted dresses didn't have to be glamorous? This piece again from Gio Goi (£59.99) certainly brightens up the prospect of dark nights and wintery days.

We love the shape of this dress at the shoulders and the flattering silhouette it will offer the wearer. Great for a smart date with some knee high boots and a leather jacket, the options are endless!
