Having made a return to the live arena after an absence of over 28 years, and releasing his critically acclaimed album ‘An Other Cup’, Yusuf has been awarded the prestigious Ivor Novello for Outstanding Song Collection. Winners in recent years include U2, New Order and Freddie Mercury & Queen. The award recognises popular music writers who have created an important and excellent body of work over a sustained period of success. The 52nd Ivor Novello Awards ceremony took place in the Great Room at the Grosvenor House, Park Lane, London on Thurs 24th May and the award was presented to Yusuf by Romeo Stoddart from The Magic Numbers. On receiving the award Yusuf said "It's an honour to receive such a recognition and a lovely surprise. Songwriting is a bit like dreaming, I have had some quite big ones for myself and humanity. For a while I had to get down to living them and putting my life in order - but I still have many dreams and that's what drives my music today." The 2007 Ivor Novello winner released his DVD entitled Yusuf’s Café Session on June 25th. The package also includes an insightful one hour documentary ‘A Few Good Songs’. The 60-minute film, originally entitled ‘Imagine’ and shown on BBC1 in May 2006, features Yusuf talking openly to Alan Yentob about his extraordinary life experiences. It now includes new exclusive unseen footage.

The DVD comes in single disc form in a six-panel Digipack, complete with 16-page booklet and poster as well as the videos to Heaven/Where True Love Goes and Midday (Avoid City After Dark).

Yusuf is marking the release of Café Session: Live From Porchester Hall with theatrical screenings at selected cinemas across the country throughout June. The premiere will took place at The Curzon, Mayfair on May 31st where Yusuf was in conversation with Danny Baker at the start of the event and performed a selection of songs informally.
