Bill Berry has rejoined REM just in time for the band's 2009 Christmas single - recorded for fan club members.
The drummer retired from the group 12 years ago, but he's back after recording one of the two songs featured on R.E.M's festive release.
Bass player Mike Mills takes over lead vocals for the track Crazy Like a Fox, a cover of Lenny Kaye's 1960s protest song. Mills also sings on the release's other track - Santa Baby.
Neither Michael Stipe nor Peter Buck appear on either track.
