It’s hard to believe that Wanderlust is Gavin Rossdale’s first ever solo album. As former lead singer of Bush, one of the biggest post grunge bands on the planet and the husband of pop icon Gwen Stefani, Gavin has lived most of his adult life in the spotlight with others. But now for the first time he stands alone. A big step but one he was more than ready to take. “I’m on the gang plank”, he says “but I feel totally emancipated because there’s a sense of me being able to write myself back in to music on my own terms.” And after years suspended in a high profile, musical wilderness, Rossdale brings it all back home with this vivid, widescreen rock album. Working with legendary producer Bob Rock (Metallica, Aerosmith) in his home studio in Maui, Gavin has written and produced the most mature, sensual, honest and compelling album of his career. Wanderlust combines a mix of genres and styles; from the anthemic, guitar driven rock of the first single Love Remains The Same and Can’t Stop The World to the heavier sounds of Another Night In The Hills and Frontline, this album is the most personal and direct set of songs Rossdale has delivered to date. He has moved beyond his past in a massively popular band and has used the opportunity of going solo to stop hiding; to explore his life both lyrically and musically. For Gavin, Wanderlust isn’t about a longing to travel and see the world, it’s about an overwhelming desire to get out and play music for people again and that’s what he’s planning to do.
