It was back in 2004 when Alistair Griffin released his debut album Bring It On but this week the singer-songwriter is back with his new record Albion Sky.

This time around Griffin has produced an incredibly personal album that shows off his ability as a song-writer and the power and emotion that he is able to convey through his lyrics.

Having said that the album starts in a manor that is perhaps a little unexpected as Blinding Light is synth driven track that does take you a little bit by surprise.

Blinding Lights is the perfect start to the album as it has an incredibly catchy chorus - mix that with a fantastic keyboard riff and driving guitars then you have a great upbeat track.

Just Drive has been the song that has catapulted Griffin once again after being picked up as the title music for Formula 1 2012.

This is one of the most anthemic tracks on the album and shows off Griffin’s prowess as a song-writer as the lyrics are incredibly life-affirming.

Griffin is also on form vocally with Just Drive as he shows the power and the delicacy of his vocals with his performance on this song - it is one of the strongest songs on the album.

Save This Day follows in the same vein as Just Drive and is one of those tracks throughout the verses until it bursts into life with another super chorus.

Griffin just has a knack for writing the perfect pop song as, once again, this is a song that is packed with emotion.

Chemistry is another major highlight on this record as it is just one of those feel- pop songs, trust me when I say you will singing this long after the track has finished.

But Albion Sky is not all about the perfect, upbeat pop song as Silent Suicide is one of the darker tracks on the album.

Griffin himself admits that this was a written at a point where he felt ‘totally lost’ and it is the most intimate and personal track on the record.

Driven by the acoustic guitar this is one of the most powerful and beautiful tracks on the album that really shows this artist bear his heart and soul - and it is quite refreshing to see such honesty.

Albion Sky is a record that is brutally truthful and gives us an insight into the heart of this talented singer-songwriter.

Albion Sky shows that Griffin has developed as a musician in the time that he has been away and this is a great pop record that should not be missed.
