Ramin is one of theatre’s shining stars with roles in the likes of The Phantom of the Opera, Love Never Dies and Les Miserables in the last few years taking on iconic roles such as the Phantom and Jean Valjean.

This week sees him move from theatre star to recording artist as he release his debut album Ramin - but don’t be fooled this is not a theatre album.

This album shows off Ramin as more than a theatre performer as his vocal and song-writing talents are on display with this album.

It would have been so easy to make a theatre record or an album of covers but Ramin has bucked that trend - producing a cracking debut in the process.

And Ramin’s desire to be recognised outside of theatre is shown in the opening track of the album as Show Me Light is one of the songs that he has had a hand in writing.

Show Me Light is a great pop track and is shows that Ramin really does have a great mainstream/pop voice - this is the perfect upbeat start to the album.

Broken Home and Eyes of a Child are other Ramin penned songs and it would be great to see him pen a completely original album further along the line as these song writing skills really have developed well/

There are also a couple of great covers on there and Guiding Light is particularly good as his powerful vocals really does bring this track to life - I actually prefer it to the Muse original; it’s very often you can say that.

But no Ramin album would be complete without a theatre track or two and Music Of The Night is a particular highlight as she really shows off the power of his beautiful voice.

It’s quite an understated version of the song, the guitars at the beginning if the track is just great, that builds into such an epic climax, displaying why he has had so much success with this role on the stage.

What makes this album so great is Ramin’s beautifully rich voice than can move form pop to theatre in a heartbeat.

Ramin certainly didn’t deliver what I was expecting, I was thinking this was just going to be a straightforward theatre album, but he has shown off his versatility and he is set to extend his fan base with this great record.

Put any preconceptions that you may have about a theatre actor recording an album as Ramin is a great debut that shows that he song writing ability as well as a great pop voice. He can take a well known pop record and make it his own as well as pen some great tunes of his own.

Really looking forward to see what sort of album he puts out next.
