Natasha Miller and Chris Howarth released two singles from their upcoming EP, Wasted and Dirty Town which I previously reviewed. I got to hear these two fantastic songs again plus four more and a remix.

Wasted is the first single on the EP and straight away we hear the compelling voice of lead vocalist Natasha Miller, her voice is seductive and distinctive and the song is a mixture of keys, guitars and memorable lyrics. There is a catchy chorus starting with the lyrics ‘I would love to shut you up.’ Although her voice is unique it does sound similar to the Bat For Lashes singer Natasha Khan.

Dirty town is another fantastic track with fierce rhythms and an energetic pace. It is quite similar to Wasted but not enough to be an exact copy. The next track on the EP is titled This One Boy which is a moody and captivating tune with bluesy guitar riffs and lengthened vocals drowning in echo reverb. It is one of my favourites on the entire EP because I love the simplicity of the melody.

The pace picks up slightly with the next track on the EP called If This Is Love. This song is haunting and interesting with guitar solos, looping backing vocals and repetitive lyrics.  Sylvia is the fifth track on the EP and is my personal favourite; I love the lyrics and the infectious guitar melody that sounds in the backing track.

The second to last track Beautiful Mess is a slower track which shows the diversity in their sound, I think this song also shows Miller’s best vocal ability. There was one track however that I really disliked and that was the finally track, which was a remix of track four If This Is Love. I preferred the original track and when listening to the remix I felt that the track had lost all of its authenticity but this is just my personal opinion because I am not a huge fan of remixes.

All of the songs on the EP show the depth and strength behind the duo’s song writing and the band has definitely been an exciting find for me. They stand outside of the line with their music and write about the daring emotions that a lot of bands tend to stay away from.

Moody, delightful and charming – OneGirlOneBoy are destined for a great career in music. I predict great things for them after releasing such a unique and diverse EP that explores the different corners of musicality they can reach. Although I didn’t like the remix of If This Is Love I did really like the original song.
