New album ‘My Own Way’ (rel. 12/05) smashed into the Top 10 at #6 [TBC] 5 Top 20 singles to date including 2 in 2008 4.5 million views of Ride It on Youtube Already 100,000 plays of Stay

After a smash hit Top 10 album, ‘My Own Way,’ and two Top 20 singles, Jay Sean continues his spectacular year with a new track, ‘Stay,’ released on July 7.

‘Stay’ is an epic slow jam in a similar vein to the brooding ‘Ride It’, with a huge and haunting vocal performance equalled by the explosive production. Says Jay: “It's a very personal song about a recent break-up. Everyone has break ups and they're always hard, but I wanted a really honest song about how relationships can crumble. It's almost a conversation with the girl, but letting the world eavesdrop.”

Since ‘Ride It’ spent over 2 months in the Top 40, Jay’s world has turned upside down: “The news that the album hit #6 has been brilliant,” he says, “and, apart from a pretty sore head each morning, I've been meeting so many fans at in-store signings too. The presents they bring me have been mental.”   Self-penned album ‘My Own Way’ was recorded in New York and London and confirms Jay as one of the UK’s leading R&B songwriters. The album features the production talents of J-Remy (Fabolous, DJ Clue) and Duro (Mariah Carey, Jay Z, Mary J Blige, Rhianna), and features eleven tracks rooted in “traditional R&B flavour,” says Jay, “but heavily focusing on the songs.”

Jay’s comeback single, ‘Ride It’, entered the charts at #11 in January, following a successful street campaign (highlighted by 2 million plays on YouTube) and culminating in strong national radio & TV support. ‘Ride It’ then lodged itself in the Top 20 for a month selling more than 50,000 units. Follow-up single ‘Maybe’ again hit the Top 20 and propelled parent album ‘My Own Way’ into the Top 10.

Jay Sean - Potted History: Jay’s debut single ‘Dance With You,’ released in ’03, peaked at number 12 in the UK charts. His debut album ‘Me Against Myself’ went on to chart within the UK top 30, with further singles (‘Eyes On You’ and ‘Stolen’) hitting numbers 6 and 4. Hounslow-born Jay has sold 300,000 albums worldwide in mainstream outlets and across S.E Asia his debut went 5 times platinum..
