Album ‘Street Love’ – 14th May
Single ‘You’ – 28th May20 year old New Orleans native Lloyd, the hottest new R&B sensation in the US, has his breakthrough US hit single ”You” featuring Lil’ Wayne, released in the UK on May 28th. The amazing success of the single continues apace for Lloyd with his new album “Street Love”, (UK release date May 14th) storming into the Billboard Hot 100 album chart at no. 2. As well as topping the Billboard Hot 100 Airplay chart with “You”, Lloyd, the first project on hip hop legend Irv Gotti’s new Inc label through Universal Republic, also occupied the number 1 spot on the iTunes R&B chart. A superhot remix of “You”, featuring Andre 3000 and Nas, will also be available in the UK. Singing came natural for Lloyd Polite, a native of New Orleans who grew up in Atlanta. As a pre-teen, Lloyd met Joyce Irby, a singer and musician who played in the seminal ‘80s girl group Klymaxx. Ten-year-old Lloyd met Irby during a rehearsal for a show at his performing arts school. Irby put together the R&B trio, Ntoon and they signed to Dreamworks Records. They quickly went form performing in small clubs to doing shows in front of 2,000 people. Things didn’t quite work out at Dreamworks and at age 14, after moving on from the band, Lloyd found himself back at square one. Armed with a demo of new material Lloyd and Irby made the industry rounds. Lloyd showcased his music and ended up signing to Magic Johnson’s label, MJM.

The 2001 CD, Oh My Lloyd, spawned the hit single “Hey Young Girl”. Soon after however bad luck struck again when the label folded. Returning to the familiar surroundings of Atlanta, Lloyd landed a showcase, and an offer of a recording contract, for the legendary L.A. Reid. However it was at the same time that he met with Irv Gotti, who was more like a big brother to the young artist. Lloyd was drafted into the Inc, army where he released the successful single, “Southside” with label mate Ashanti. He also recorded with southern artists, 8 Ball and MJG, Young Jeezy, Lil Scrappy, Trillville, Roy Jones, Snoop Dogg, and Tango Redd.

Ready to start his new venture, Young Goldie Productions, Lloyd brought in an old friend, Jazze Pha to help get the ball rolling. With Jazze Pha's Sho’nuff Records (home to Ciara, Jody Breeze and Cherish) and Irv Gotti (Ja Rule, Ashanti, Vanessa Carlton, and Seven) planted firmly in his corner, Lloyd released the monster single, "You" featuring Lil Wayne and quickly recorded “Street Love”, a healthy blend of old school flavour, flawless vocals and stellar production by Irv Gotti, 7, Big Reese (Mariah Carey, Tango Redd, Young Jeezy), Jasper Cameron (Nelly, Christina Aguilera, Monica), J-Lack, and Jazze Phizzle. Standout tracks include the next single “Get It Shawty”, “Certified”, “Earthling”, and “Hazel”. Lloyd
