Baby day care can be a life-saver for parents

Baby day care can be a life-saver for parents

The Ofsted registered crèche, which opens this week, is based at 32b, Webbs Road, London, SW11 6SF - just moments away from the busy Northcote Road - giving busy parents across South London and beyond, the convenience of safe and secure emergency childcare, at a moments notice.

The 55 sq. foot premises over two floors, which has been kitted out like a premium London nursery and can hold up to 15 children at any one time, is open from 9am until 6pm, Monday to Friday and Saturday’s on the lead up to Christmas.

With two rooms and an outdoor space including rubber safety floor and a garden patch, allows babies, toddlers and preschoolers to be separated off according to their age and development. Children can be left for a maximum of 4 hours, and no pre-booking is required, though a minimum one-hour charge will apply.

The Baby Drop is the creation of two professional mummies who, while on maternity leave, found no flexible solution to childcare that didn’t break the bank. So, they decided to create a solution of their own.

Co-founder Charlotte Butterfill, said: “As a new mum on maternity leave, there were so many occasions when I was wanting to go for a run, get my hair done or do some freelance work, but with my husband working long hours and both sets of parents living out of London, there wasn’t anything that was flexible and cost effective, certainly within the area so we saw a missed opportunity."

We have a wonderful time singing nursery rhymes and playing games – we are literally on the floor with them the whole day and the babies and us just have the most wonderful time

Mums, dads, grandparents and carers are welcome to look around the newly opened crèche so that they can be confident that their children will be in good hands, while they take on last minute work projects, tackle household duties, visit appointments, or feel confident that they have a back up solution when usual childcare arrangements fall through.

Additionally, busy mums can feel assured that their children will be cared for, happy and receive as much love as they get at home, while mum goes off to recharge her batteries.

With prices starting from just £10 an hour, they reflect and align with those offered by nurseries in the same suburb whilst also providing total flexibility.

Charlotte added: "The premises are centered in the middle of Northcote Road, the renowned nappy valley and area for young working families with young children and busy lives. Naturally all of our staff is qualified to minimum Ofsted requirements and between the team we can boast over 40 year’s experience of looking after young babies.”

Co-founder Ellen de Naray, said: “Of course, when it comes to dealing with young children and babies, safety and security are absolutely paramount. And as mums with young babies ourselves, we totally understand the need for parents to feel confident that their babies will be safe and feel loved whilst in our care and without a phasing in period.

"With this in mind, we have taken extra special effort to amuse, entertain and distract babies while under our supervision; so that before they know it their mums and dads are back at the door waiting to take them home again. We have a wonderful time singing nursery rhymes and playing games – we are literally on the floor with them the whole day and the babies and us just have the most wonderful time. It really is a dream career come true," she said.

Offering both membership and rates for non-members, it is flexible for either the regular or the one off user.

The Baby Drop offers a flexible online booking system which is quick and easy to use and will be going live in November.
