Affair of the Year: Kristen Stewart and Rupert Sanders

You hear of Z list celebrities cheating on their partner's all the time so it's really no big deal when another crawls out of the woodwork but 2012 showed us one of the most shocking affairs of all time.

In July this year, Kristen Stewart was caught canoodling with Snow White and The Huntsman director Rupert Sanders and when the pictures hit the internet the entire world fell into shock.

No one could believe that such a high profile actress would be so stupid as to have an affair, let alone carry it out in public!

The affair officially confirmed what we had all known for a long time - that Kristen and Robert Pattinson were an item.

Despite rumours of them dating had been circulating since 2008, neither of them ever actually confirmed it.

That all changed after the affair was outed, with Kristen making a public apology to Robert that consisted of her saying he was her world and she loved him with every inch of her being.

Robert stayed quiet throughout the entire ordeal and despite his heartache, had apparently taken Kristen back, but once again there has been no confirmation of their relationship.

Kristen handled the scandal pretty well, even though she recently confessed that she just wanted to stay in her hotel room and never face the world, and press, again.

She came out with her head held high and it seems to have paid off. She didn't get egged (or worse) at the Twilight premiere and her career has never been in better shape.

Although we don't condone what Kristen did, we can't deny that it she handled it brilliantly and for that we salute her!

This has definitely been one of the biggest stories of the year and who's to say that Robert won't choose to take his revenge and steal the limelight in 2013? Only time will tell!
