The Fifty Shades of Grey bug seems to have hit once again with Manchester being named the Sexiest City by FPA’s charity online sex toy website desireandpleasure.co.uk.
Northern Cities Lead Sex Toy Boom
The research that lasted for 30 months tracked online searches for sex toys from across the UK and saw a 92 per cent rise in demand in Manchester alone.
London came a close second, followed by Sheffield, Glasgow and Edinburgh leaving the North driving the sex toy boom.

Milton KeynesTerry Hawkins, Business Development Manager at FPA says, “People are understandably reluctant to discuss their sexual habits, so we used an analysis of online behaviour to show what their sexual habits really are.
“It’s clear that the UK has seen a huge increase in demand for sex toys over the last two and a half years, with interest up by an average of 92%. It seems that cities in the north of the UK are leading this trend making up four of our top five sexiest cities.”
Terry believes that this growth in interest across the UK is being fuelled by the greater anonymity offered by the internet, allowing us to overcome our traditional shyness when it comes to buying sex products.
“There’s no doubt that the internet is a very useful resource for people wanting to explore their sexual desires and shop for products that they may have been too nervous to buy in the past,” says Terry.
“It’s also a great source of information and advice, and we’d urge anyone experimenting sexually to also look up useful information such as how to use sex toys safely.”
