We all like to have a little fun with the camera, especially when we’re around friends, but how far is too far?  Would you take unflattering pictures of your friends and put them online for the world to see, or have you been a victim of the dreaded photo sabotage?

A new survey shows that the women of Britain have been a little unkind lately when it comes to showing their friends up via social media.

The survey by MyMemory.co.uk showed that 24 per cent of 1,512 women have posted an unflattering picture of their friend in either a bikini or swimsuit, knowing that their friend would be unhappy about it.

A further 45 per cent have posted a photo of their friend in an unflattering outfit, despite knowing that their friend would be upset or unhappy about it.

Forty one per cent have posted a picture of friends without make-up on, and given that a recent survey by leading beauty website Escentual.com showed that 33 per cent of woman won’t leave the house without wearing make-up then I can’t image they’d be too happy about having their bare face plastered all over the internet.

The main reason for ‘friends’ photo sabotaging one another was because they didn’t like the friend that they did it to, and a further 32 per cent said they only did it because their friend had done it to them previously.

Nineteen per cent said they that would not take an unflattering picture of their friend down, even if she had asked them to.

It appears that we women don’t like the taste of our own medicine as 78 per cent of women surveyed said that they would untag themselves from an unflattering picture that their friend uploaded.

A further 65 per cent said that they would actually be angry if their friend had uploaded an unflattering picture of them.

Rebecca Huggler, Co-Founder of MyMemory.com, says “The etiquette of tagging friends in photographs on social networking sites is a tricky one to master, and with so many pitfalls, we wanted to look into women’s relationships with the photographs they upload to the sites in question.

“To see that so many women deliberately commit ‘photo sabotage’ and upload unflattering pictures of friends is somewhat surprising, particularly when you consider how many said they’d be mad if the same was done to them!”
