Don't End Up In The Dump This Year

Don't End Up In The Dump This Year

So to help you out a little and give you a head start here at Female First we always like to keep you clued in, we have compiled a list of what your gifts say about you and what women really want. It may just make you think twice about what you were going to buy your other half this Valentines Day.

Chocolates

All girls love chocolate and we try our best not to overload ourselves with it because we could get fat but lets face it at times life gets to hard and we need to reach for it.

So it's no wonder for some men the idea of a box of chocolates can seem like the perfect gift. But do women really want a box of chocolates I mean we can just go to the corner shop and pick up our favourite bar for the price of 40p. There is no thought into the present buying and to put it bluntly you can now buy a luxury brand from your local Tesco, so you don't have to go very much out of your way to buy them.

To me they are a waste of money and a boring gift. Yes, we love chocolate but why not buy us two bars of Galaxy and Dairy Milk and spend the rest of your money taking us out to a well deserved meal at a fancy restaurant.

Flowers

Flowers are normally given on two occasions. One when you have done something wrong and you need a way to make it up to her and second when on a spare of the moment thought realise you love her and want to surprise her.

They should not I repeat they should not be bought for Valentines Day. They are a predictable gift and no doubt the florist will hate you for ordering them late and having to work extra hard to get them ready.

In some ways, I do go back a little on my statement of not buying them for Valentines Day. I think its acceptable if they aren't the main present and they compliment the other gifts you shower her with.

One tip I would advise is stay clear from white lilies they are normally seen at funerals so that may not be the perfect type and also avoid the cliché red rose, instead opt for bright flowers that look unusual or if all else fails ask the best friend what her favourite type is.

Gift Vouchers

It goes without saying that gift vouchers are an unacceptable present at Valentines Day. I mean, come on, this is a romantic day do you really want to give her a plastic card loaded with money and restricted to one particular shop, so she then can choose what she wants to buy.

Gift Vouchers can be considered suicidal and a sure way to end your relationship, instead buy what you think she would like and keep the receipt or take her friend shopping with you to make sure you get what she really wants, as opposed to what she thinks she wants.

Lingerie

Anne Summers and La Senza are the main favourites at this time of the year. They are the shops yo,u the man most want to buy from, for the obvious reason it's kinky.

Why not try Agent Provocateur a favourite with celebs and a sure hit with your girlfriend/wife. It's like an up market Anne Summers and she will defiantly know you have made the extra effort in picking out her present.

Yes the idea is nice idea but do you know your girlfriend's size? If not instead of guessing it and then finding out you have got it wrong, why not be prepared and have a sneaky look in her underwear draw and find out the right size. While you're at it you may also want to look at the array of colours and types and get a feel of what she likes.

P.S. Avoid candy underwear, it will take forever to be finally eaten off you and no doubt will leave you bored and wil result in you begging him to hurry up.

Sweets

I know sweets are not the most romantic thing that springs to mind for Valentines Day, but this websites has hampers, jars.

This retro site is fun, quirky and reasonably cheap here at the office we can't get enough, to make it even better you can personilise the boxes and hampers making it unique to you. A sure win for Valentines Day.
