52% of loved up Brits believe that quality time together is defined as watching a boxset. This makes it one of the most popular things to do as a couple, even in the summer, according to Virgin Media.

Couples choose this over all else!

Couples choose this over all else!

It's no surprise that couples have resorted to this type of entertainment as a single boxset will cost the same as an entire cinema trip and streaming it is the cost of less than one movie ticket. Plus there is the added benefit of not being disturbed by inconsiderate audience members or having to leave the house.

Brits go as far as to say that they prefer watching a boxset than going on holiday or eating together as they treasure the time with their partner more while watching something on the box.

Despite there being no room for small talk- it gives couples the chance to shut off the outside world- namely work and unwanted visitors and snuggle up together.

Many couples have declined a social invitation in favour of staying in under the duvet. This bond is what brings couples together in the initial stages of a relationship, but is a reliable date idea for the long term too as coupes of any age can enjoy a TV marathon together.

However, it does take its toll on relationships- as many would skip an episode or two ahead to find out what happens without their partner by their side. And the so called 'box set betrayers' have seen an entire season of something before telling their partner or watching it all over again with them.

Netflix's Orange Is The New Black Season 3 is currently available to watch in its entirety on Virgin Media TiVo.

Boxset endings are just as painful as break ups for many Brits
