NEW SURVEY SHOWS A THIRD OF BRITISH MEN LOOK FOR WOMEN WHO REMIND THEM OF THEIR MUM

With Mothers' Day approaching, a new survey has revealed that nearly a third ofBritish men are looking for women who share the same personality as their treasured mums.

So what is it about mums that men find so attractive? Research undertaken amongmembers of YooMedia Dating Group's new dating website LETSDATEFORFREE.COM

Revealed that 31% of men are attracted to women with the same sense of humour astheir mothers and 29% go for women with their mum's personality, though less than a fifth admitted they are attracted to women who actually look like their mother.

But it's not just men who look for parental characteristics in a lover. It seemsthe way to a woman's heart is to make her laugh like her dad. 39% of women said they were attracted to men with a similar sense of humour and almost a quarter looked for a man whose looks reminded them of their father.

Commenting on the survey's findings, LETSDATEFORFREE.COM's Venetia Casely said:"The survey shows that for men, whilst finding someone who resembles their mother physically isn't that important, the qualities they regard as the mostpositive ones in their mothers - probably the fact that they are caring, supportive, funny and loyal among others - are among the key qualities they are looking for when considering a partner."

The survey shows that searching for a partner who looks like mum appears to be much more of a young man's fixation. Almost a third of 25-34 year old men compared to only 11% of 45-54 year olds said they sought a partner with the same body shape as their mother, whilst in terms of personality there seems to be a large shift in perceptions between men in their Twenties and those in the Thirties; the majority of 18-24 year old men (59%) said they would be happy with a partner whose personality reminded them of mum compared to less than half that (27%) of 35-44 year olds.

Regional variations thrown up by the survey were also marked. Around a quarter of men in the West Midlands and the South West (26% and 22% respectively) favoured partners with similar facial features and colouring to their mothers, but only 7% of Scotsman found these characteristics attractive.

Scotsmen, though, like those in the South East (both 36%) are attracted by women with a similar personality to their mothers, compared to less than half this figure (17%) of men in East Anglia.

Personality was also the dominant attraction in London, where 29% of men opted for women with similar personalities to their mother, but only 16% for similar body type and just 14% for similar facial features.
