New research from Cineworld has shown that superhero movies are the clear first date choice for both men and women!

In fact, 77 per cent of women voted it the perfect first date genre compared to 65 per cent of men.

We’ve all just had the pleasure of watching the epic Iron Man 3 on the big screen and Robert Downey Jr has had a lasting effect on the ladies who say that Iron Man is the superhero they’d most like to date.

Iron Man was followed by the delicious Thor, bad boy Wolverine, do good-er Batman and the ultra-muscly Superman.

It’s no surprise that with women having such an attraction to him, that men said Iron Man is the superhero they would most want to be.

This was followed by Batman and Superman came in third place.

Roy Gower, Head of Film at Cineworld, said, “Superhero films are huge right now. The recent success of films like The Dark Knight, Iron Man and Avenger’s Assemble has re-kindled our love for comic book heroes and whetted our appetites for the latest superhero installment, Man of Steel.”

“Henry Cavill is expected to blow us away with his performance of Superman in Zack Snyder’s highly anticipated re-imagining of the popular Superman Franchise.”

It’s no surprise that we Brits can’t get enough of a bad boy. The late Health Ledger was voted as the best comic book villain for his portrayal of The Joker in The Dark Knight.

Following him was the ever-lovely Tom Hardy for his portrayal of Bane in the last of the Batman trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises.
