David Emanuel - who designed the late Princess Diana's gown for her big day - would love to dress Catherine's sister Pippa for her nuptials and thinks lace or chiffon would be a suitable choice for the bride-to-be.

He told heat magazine: "Yes, I'd love to dress Pippa - she'd be an enormous challenge. I'd do her completely the opposite of Catherine. She's got a great little figure - and Pippa's not going to be a royal bride, she's going to marry the man of her dreams.

"I would either put her in something really soft, either lace with a lovely trim or a soft silhouette. Catherine's was quite sharp and hard - I'd do Pippa either in gallons of chiffon, really soft and pretty, or the whole thing in Chantilly lace."

Meanwhile, it was previously revealed that Carole Middleton, Pippa's mother, was the "mastermind" behind her engagement to James Matthews.

A source said previously: "This is something she has hoped for quite some time. She appears to be something of a mastermind in making this happen."

The Duchess of Cambridge and her husband Prince William are thrilled by news of the engagement.

A spokesperson for the royal couple said at the time: "The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are absolutely delighted with the news."

Whilst Pippa's father Michael added in a statement: "Carole and I are absolutely thrilled with the news. They make a wonderful couple and we wish them every happiness together."
