The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge

Britain's Duchess of Cambridge will be a "hands-on" mother.

Martin Fidler - the butcher in Kate Middleton's home village of Bucklebury in the south east of England - claims her ordinary upbringing will result in her and Prince William raising a "well-balanced" child.

He told E! News: "I think Kate will be hands-on most of the time. She'll be just like her mother. A very caring person, especially where her child's concerned.

"I just think the child, whatever way they teach it, look after it, it will be well-balanced between the two of them because they're both evenly balanced from the beginning."

The birth of the royal couple's first baby is imminent, and Martin explained the child will benefit from both parents having a relatively grounded "upbringing" themselves.

He added: "I think the baby will have the best of all worlds because of the upbringing it will get.

"Credit [Princess Diana] for having William in the beginning and for Carole and Mike for having Kate.

"It's a great mixture and I think the royalty will have one of the greatest mixtures going in this country."
