Pippa Middleton was reportedly asked not to compete in a charity tennis match by Buckingham Palace.

Duchess Catherine's younger sister had been expected to take part in the Rally Against Cancer charity tennis competition at The Queen's Club in London on Saturday (15.06.13), but was allegedly told to steer clear by the Palace, who are said to be "concerned" by her "appetite for publicity" and didn't want to detract from Queen Elizabeth's appearance at the Cartier Queen's Cup tennis tournament on the same day.

A source told The Telegraph newspaper: "Pippa was informed that it would not be prudent for her to participate. It was unfortunate we hadn't addressed the issue earlier, but Miss Middleton took on board what we had to say."

However, a spokesperson for the event insists Pippa, 29, made the decision not to take part "a good few weeks ago".

The insider added: "There was some talk of Miss Middleton taking part. It didn't happen, as I think she couldn't make the timings. She did come to watch earlier in the week."

Stars who did take part in the event included London mayor Boris Johnson and actor Eddie Redmayne.
